There are three easy ways to apply for a registered Channel:
WEB: Use the Online Registration page (easiest)
IRC: Type /msg CStar REGISTER and follow the prompts
EMAIL: Send us the E-mail Registration Form below.

Please do not falsify information or attempt to register more than one channel ! Having a registered channel on Starlink-IRC is a privilege, not a right. Channel Owners may lose this privilege if they falsify registration information or deliberately annoy or abuse other channels.

WebTV Users: To register a channel, You should have a co-manager who is a computer user. The reason is that "webbies" don't have a way to easily download documentation, see mode changes and other things. Although It's not mandatory, we really recommend that you have a trusted co-manager to properly manage your channel.

These are the general requirements for channels. Please see the SL-iRC Charter for more detailed information. When registering a channel, keep in mind that StarLink-IRC is a family oreinted network.

Channel names must begin with a number or letter.
Owners must authenticate at least once every 45 days.
Individuals may have only ONE registered channel on SL-IRC.
Warez, porn, and open sex channels are prohibited.
Kids-only channels MUST be registered with CService.

Note that channels are purged (deleted) if it has been over 45 days since the last time the owner has authenticated.

Come to #CHANNELS if you have questions or don't receive a confirmation of your application in one or two days.

CHANGES (EXPIRE, TRANSFER, RENAME or DELETE)

In addition to normal registration, Channels can be renamed, transferred, or deleted at the request of the channel owner. o Repeated changes to your channel may result in a request being denied. o Changed channels will NOT be transferred back or re-registered to the original owner for 45 days. o The channel registrar may grant waivers or exceptions to the above if conditions warrant. Decision of the registrar is final. Since a transfer is the equivalent of a new registration, StarLink-IRC may require additional information or supporters prior to approval. In the Email body: Give a short reason for the change. For transfers, you must supply the nick, usermask, and email address of the new owner.

StarLink-IRC SERVER APPLICATION

We are always looking for RESPONSIBLE organizations that wish to be associated with our network by running an IRC server. If you are thinking about running a server on our net (or know someone who might want to do so) here are some general things to keep in mind:

Read the basic principles in the Charter
Review the Minimum Requirements (below)
Prior to linking a server, written approval is required from the sysadmin of the machine. If it's not included with the application, they will be emailed for permission before the application can be reviewed.
The machine is required to operate 24 hrs a day 7 days a week, with average uptimes of at least one week.
The admin and opers of the server are expected to visit IRC on at least a daily basis, and be reliable, friendly and cooperative within the context of providing IRC as a service.
Sex and Warez related channels are NOT permitted on this network.
Operators and administrators are expected to maintain appropriate behavior. Confirmation of acceptance should take 1-2 weeks from receipt of the application and there is usually a three (3) week trial period following initial connection.

Note: The application form contains other conditions and expectations, so please review it thoroughly prior to submission.

Mailing lists are set up for specific puposes. The general mail list is set up to inform our users of events and information on our net. In an effort to serve our users properly, and to be fair to all, inappropriate mail to the general list will be deleted.
The StarLink-IRC monthly Newsletter is sent automatically to all subscribers to slirc-mail.
MAIL: slirc-mail@starlink-irc.org is a fully moderated list and will contain only official SL-IRC business, announcements, and other useful bits of information for users. Other Useful addresses:
