Feel free to ask for help setting up your server. EXPECTATIONS: The admin and opers are expected to visit IRC on at least a daily basis and be reliable, friendly and cooperative within the context of providing IRC as a service. PROHIBITIONS: Sex and Warez related channels are prohibited. This and other related policies are detailed in the network Charter and are actively enforced. UPTIME: The machine is required to operate 24 hrs a day 7 days a week, with average uptimes of at least one week, PORTS: The following IRC ports are required as shown: 6667 Must be available. 7001 Should be available to accomodate AOL and other clients. 7070 and 4400 are needed for network routing purposes. HUBS: As a general rule, all servers with the necessary available bandwidth are configured as hubs. The appropriate H: line will be set on network servers when neeed. EVALUATION PROCESS: Note: Prior to linking a server, formal approval is required from the sysadmin of the machine. 1. After technical evaluation by the routing group ... The application is voted on by StarLink Operations 2. Confirmation of the decsion (acceptance or rejection) should be received no later than 1-2 weeks after receipt of application. 3. A 3 week test phase will follow the initial connection. TEST PHASE: During the test phase: 1. You will be allowed two global O lines of your choice. We suggest that they be allocated to the ircadmin and sysadmin or a co-admin or operator. 2. You must add a global O line for an existing SL-IRC operator. This O line may be removed at the end of the test phase if you desire. 3.
